What should I include in a Christmas decoration project?

In Christmas projects, it’s common to struggle with how to compose the space in a way that truly conveys the spirit of the season.

Christmas décor has a very distinctive style, with elements that are essential for setting the right atmosphere.

Below, you’ll find what can’t be missing from your project.

1. Christmas Tree

In absolute first place, there’s no other decoration that could take the lead but the Christmas tree, the ultimate symbol of the season.

One of the best aspects of including it in a Christmas design is the freedom to decorate it however you wish.

In the Blocks plugin, you’ll find a Christmas Tree family ready to be customized according to your client’s briefing.

You can choose different ornaments or use the ones already available in the plugin.

2. Stack of Gifts

What would Christmas be without gifts? Even if they’re purely decorative, they’re an essential part of the festive setup.

After all, gift-giving is at the heart of the celebration. A survey showed that 78% of Brazilians plan to give gifts at Christmas 2025.

Gifts are usually placed under the Christmas tree, but there’s nothing stopping you from distributing them throughout the space, just be strategic to avoid a cluttered or meaningless layout.

In our plugin, you’ll also find a fully parametric Stack of Gifts family to complement your tree.

3. Christmas Stockings

Christmas stockings are a classic holiday element and fit naturally into any Christmas décor.

In the United States, they’re traditionally hung over the fireplace, making it the most authentic placement when a fireplace is part of the project.

They can also be styled in other ways, on shelves, walls, or even incorporated into the Christmas tree, depending on the layout and design concept.

4. String Lights

Just like the Christmas tree, string lights are indispensable. Tree and lights are an inseparable duo.

Let’s be honest: Christmas without lights simply doesn’t feel the same.

The great thing is that lighting works with any décor style. Today, there are countless options available: LED curtains, multicolored lights, vintage bulbs, transparent wires, and more.

In the Blocks plugin, you’ll find one of the biggest current trends: light curtains. They can completely transform a space, as long as they’re placed strategically.

5. Christmas Ornaments

Christmas ornaments, especially baubles, are arguably the most iconic decorations.

Typically made of glass or plastic with glossy, matte, or glitter finishes, they symbolize Christmas tradition itself.

Unlike other decorative elements, Christmas ornaments are almost exclusive to the tree. A well-designed tree simply isn’t complete without them.

Take the time to choose carefully and, if possible, mix different sizes and textures.

6. Candles

If you thought string lights were the only source of Christmas lighting magic, think again. To add a more sophisticated and cozy touch, candles are an excellent choice due to their versatility.

The best way to use them is by placing them strategically to add soft lighting accents, such as on the dining table.

That said, it’s crucial to be mindful of safety and avoid placing candles near flammable materials.

In the Blocks plugin, you’ll find several parametric candle families ready to be used in your project.

7. Wreath

Now let’s talk about Christmas’s calling card: the wreath.

Traditionally made of green branches and decorated with ribbons, bows, pinecones, and ornaments, it welcomes everyone who arrives.

Because of its strong symbolic value, the wreath is a must-have. And it’s also a flexible element, you don’t have to limit it to the front door.

How about placing a wreath above the fireplace, over a mirror, or on the wall behind the sofa?

8. Thematic Decorations

Beyond the classic elements, it’s important to include thematic decorations that add personality, such as snowmen, Christmas cookies, Santa’s sleigh, snow globes, and much more.

These items add personality to the overall design, providing the finishing touch your project needs.

In our plugin, you’ll find several Christmas-themed decorations that will give your Revit project a special flair.

9. Decorated Tables

At Christmas, the dining table becomes the star of the show during the holiday meal. That’s why table setting is essential in a Christmas interior design project.

Preparation involves choosing an elegant tablecloth, placemats, special dinnerware, napkins, and, of course, a thematic centerpiece.

You can use candle arrangements, pinecones, decorative trays with ornaments, or even a small nativity scene for more traditional settings.

10. Fireplace

Last but not least: the fireplace. It plays a key role in winter and Christmas scenes, adding warmth, comfort, and a strong sense of atmosphere.

For this reason, it’s a feature worth incorporating in your project, eco-friendly or gas fireplaces are also great options.

In the Blocks plugin, you’ll find fireplace families ranging from rustic to contemporary styles.

And of course, don’t forget to hang the Christmas stockings on it.

What are the four Christmas colors?

The four traditional Christmas colors recognized worldwide are red, gold, green, and white.

Each one carries a special symbolism, and together they form the classic palette we see everywhere during the season.

Red represents love and generosity and is also associated with Santa Claus’ outfit. Gold refers to divine light, wealth, and royalty. Green symbolizes hope and life. White represents peace, purity, and snow.

If you’d like to apply these colors to your Revit project, the Blocks plugin offers a rich library of materials and textures in all of them.
